Microneedling or collagen induction therapy is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure. It involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are which are used to puncture the skin to and create a controlled skin injury. This allows the body’s own natural healing mechanisms to stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin.
What to Expect
A topical anesthetic cream is applied prior to the treatment and helps the patient to be comfortable during the procedure. Skin will be pink or red for ~24 to 48 hours after the treatment. Specific post care instructions must be followed to reap the full treatment benefits. Multiple treatments will be necessary and the number of microneedling sessions depends on the individual’s skin condition and skin type. Three or four treatments may be recommended for mild to moderate acne scarring, whereas deeper scars and stretch marks may require upward of five treatments. An interval of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments is typically recommended. Maintenance treatments at intervals of 6 to 12 months are also encouraged.

Her in-depth knowledge on technologies and treatments to address a variety of skin issues is evident as she takes the time to educate her patients on preventative skin care measures and how to maintain healthy skin. She is thorough, attentive, and talks to you in plain English, not complicated medical terms. Her staff is friendly, helpful, and well-organized.
